In memory of H. Jess Senecal
A Tribute To A Great Leader
H. Jess Senecal 1930 – 2012
The challenge of leadership is to be strong, but not rude; be kind, but not weak; be bold, but not bully; be thoughtful, but not lazy; be humble, but not timid; be proud, but not arrogant; have humor, but without folly.
– Jim Rohn American entrepreneur, author motivational speaker
Ralph Waldo Emerson once remarked, “Our chief want is someone who will inspire us to be what we know we could be.” Throughout his life, for all those who ventured into his realm of influence, that “someone” was Jess Senecal.
We lost our friend, our trusted colleague, our inspiring mentor in June, 2012, but his legacy will live in our memories and in the world around us for many years to come. Known far and wide for his honesty and integrity, Jess Senecal’s wit and humor, his wisdom and savvy and his unwavering respect for those around him, Jess left an indelible mark on his law firm, his clients and business colleagues, his alma mater and his family.
In 1955, Jess completed his J.D. Degree at UCLA and joined then Dryer, Burris & Lagerlof, becoming a partner in the firm in 1959. His name was added to the firm in 1973, and he came to be considered a mentor by all those who worked with him during his 57 years with the firm.
While Jess is no longer with us in person, his spirit lives on in the hearts and minds of all those he touched during his long and illustrious career. We are the success we are today in large measure because of the imprint he left, and his memory will always be with us.
