Roland is involved in a majority of the firm’s litigation and is well versed in municipal and public agency law, particularly water law and environmental. He also has ample experience in business and corporate transactions, trusts and estate planning, and trademark and copyright. Roland enjoys serving as general counsel for both public entities and private corporations.

Roland’s litigation experience spans a multitude of civil practice areas including real property, mandamus actions involving county and municipal governments, trust and probate litigation, and commercial and business disputes.

In recent years, Roland was heavily involved in negotiating and drafting project agreements for the Baldwin Park and Puente Valley Operable Units of the San Gabriel Valley Superfund Sites, two of four groundwater contamination zones designated by the United States Environmental Protection Agency in the San Gabriel Valley. Water treatment cleanup projects involving multiple public agencies and numerous potentially responsible private corporations have been established at these Superfund Sites to treat industrial solvents and other chemical contaminants first identified in the 1970s in the San Gabriel Valley Groundwater Basin, which serves as the drinking water source for millions of people in the San Gabriel Valley.

A native of the San Gabriel Valley, Roland worked for Yahoo! Search Marketing in Pasadena after graduating from the University of California at Berkeley in 2001. While earning his J.D. from UCLA School of Law, Roland was a clerk at the Office of General Counsel for the California State University before serving in the same capacity at Lagerlof, Senecal, Gosney & Kruse, LLP.

Roland is a member of the Board of Directors for the Pasadena Police Activities League (PAL), a nonprofit after school crime prevention program that provides educational, cultural and athletic enrichment to Pasadena’s youth.  He is passionate about traveling and the outdoors, loves basketball and football, and also enjoys hiking, fitness, yoga, and live music.  Roland is a member of the Pasadena Bar Association and is conversant in Cantonese.
